EXAMINATION PREPARATION
Colonoscopy preparation with Picoprep or
Citrafleet
Preparation takes 4 days. For the examination to be successful, it is necessary that the entire large intestine is clean.
Colonoscopy diet, 3 days before taking the laxative:
ALLOWED: meat, fish, chicken, boiled egg, yellow cheese, feta cheese, potatoes, rice, pasta, white bread, coffee. (Attention: during this diet you should take 1 Dulcolax tablet every night)

PROHIBITED: legumes, vegetables, greens, fruits, (especially with peels and seeds), freshly squeezed orange juice, nuts, fried foods, dairy (except yellow cheese/feta), wholegrain bread, soft drinks.
• Most medications are continued until the day of the colonoscopy.
• Insulin should be regulated after consultation with the attending physician or the gastroenterology doctor.
• Iron supplements are stopped at least 5 days before the examination.
• Anti-platelet/anticoagulants (Sintrom, Plavix, Brilique, Pradaxa, Eliquis, Xarelto): consult with the specialist who administered them for their possible discontinuation or replacement.
• Aspirin/Salospir: Safe intake even in possible polypectomy. They don’t need to be stopped.
Colonoscopy preparation with Picoprep or
Citrafleet
On the eve of the colonoscopy:
- Hearty breakfast e.g. tea, honey, white bread and cheese.
- After that no solid foods are allowed!
You should take the 2 sachets of Picoprep or Citrafleet as follows:
- At 2:00 pm dissolve the 1 st sachet in half a glass of water and then drink at least 5
glasses of water (within 3-4 hours). - At 8:00 pm dissolve the 2 nd sachet in half a glass of water and then drink at least 5
glasses of water (within 3-4 hours). - In the evening you can only drink chamomile or tea.
- You can drink clear liquids up to 2 hours before the colonoscopy.
Gastroscopy preparation
- No food or liquids is allowed 6 hours before the examination.
- You can drink 30 ml of water with your medication up to 2 hours before the endoscopy.
