Gastroscopy

With gastroscopy we are able, in an easy and fast way, to investigate symptoms such as heartburn, stomach pain, vomiting, reflux, indigestion, anemia, helicobacter infection, and bowel movement disturbances.

Colonoscopy

Colonoscopy is the best method for early prevention and diagnosis of colorectal cancer. It is a safe and completely painless test that is now recommended for “everyone from 45 years of age”. This test can be used to investigate for blood in the stool, change in stools, new onset of constipation, inflammatory bowel disease and to diagnose diverticulosis.

Polypectomy

Bowel and stomach polyps are common findings in adults who undergo colonoscopy or gastroscopy. These polyps vary in size, morphology, and histological diagnosis, as well as in potential malignancy. Their removal is done endoscopically, during the examination and is painless.

GASTROENTEROLOGIST | HEPATOLOGIST | ENDOSCOPIST

Gastroenterologist Niki Daferera is a graduate of the Medical School of the
Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and completed her specialization in its entirety
in Sweden.

She received her specialty in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology-
Hepatology from the University Hospital of Linköping, Sweden, where she has
been training in Interventional Endoscopy since 2011. She is also specialized in
Hepatology at the Hepatology and Transplantation clinic at Karolinska University
Hospital in Stockholm. Since 2016, she has been working as a supervisor of Special
Pathology, and, since 2019, as a Supervisor of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at
Linköping University Clinic, Sweden. During her time there she was also in charge
of training undergraduate students at the Medical School of Linköping University.

Doctor Niki Daferera is a PhD candidate at Linköping University (LIU) and has
authored numerous publications in scientific journals with presentations at
European and international scientific conferences.

She remains a remote associate at the Gastroenterology and Hepatology clinic at
Linköping University Hospital in order to maintain her academic level.

Her clinical interests include, but are not limited to, the diagnosis and treatment of
esophagitis, treatment of peptic ulcer disease and Helicobacter pylori infection,
gastroesophageal reflux disease, colorectal cancer screening with colonoscopy,
endoscopic removal of intestinal, esophageal, and gastric polyps, irritable bowel
syndrome, as well as the diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of diseases of the
liver and pancreas.

She is a partner of the general clinic “Agios Georgios” in Alykes, Volos and maintains a private practice in the center of Volos.
